You Knew

I think you knew that everything was crashing down around us...

That the lies were caving in under the weight of their own unholiness.

I think you thought

everyday,

about someone, not me, but someone.

All the time about a person I could not see,

but you saw

in everything.

I think you talked

trying to shove sympathetic gentility into a mouthful of painful words,

trying to say what you needed to

And not you wanted to. 

I think you prayed,

even when you could only reply a set of feelings that would further bind me down to earth 

that one day 

I would know heaven.

I think you wanted

-even if you couldn't-

you wanted someone to say they love me too...

"I love you."
