They can't take your name

Those are yours and belong to no one else

 

Those wonderful parts of life

The ones you share with the world

That always stay with you

Those are your to keep

 

The parts of you that you hide

For no one to ever see

Dark and maybe scary

Those are your too

 

You are your own person

Not just one of many

One of a kind and unique

Made of things that cannot be erased

I'm kind of worried so I feel like I should clarify something. I use you for the poem even though it was the "Speak your mind slam" because it's how I think. I wanted it to be about how it can feel like everything is taken from us but there are parts of us that no one and nothing can truly steal. It's just the kind of thing I think about.
