She made you

With love and intelligence

She showed you how to be

How to live

How to see

She made you perfectly

But then she died, and you made me

With a broken heart

And eyes that could not see

You told me stories

How it all used to be

I lay in bed

And dream of how I wish things could be

I listen to your rules

I kiss you before bed each night

But you’re never happy

Nothing will ever be all right

When things are going well

It can never be enough

I’m trying

Can’t you see?

Can’t you see you’re hurting me?

It saddens me to see you live so hopelessly

I’ve spent my entire life trying to cheer you up

I think now it’s time to give it all up.
