Dream

You chase your dream,

Seeing it glimmer and gleam.

Then you fall,

Losing it all.

Dirt smearing your lifework.

But you brush it off with some effort.

You start again,

a little farther from where you begin.

You fall again,

Sending you into a tailspin.

You walk now with more care,

Even though your dream is coming near.

Then you fall again.

Not knowing what happened,

But your dream is now blackened.

You walk with fear,

And you are so near.

You fall,

Throwing away all.

That is where you failed,

When you bailed on your dream.

You could have risen,

Started again.

But no,

You let go.

And in the darkness from behind,

Lurks an evil mind.

Why did you fall?

Did you ever wonder at all?

A smile flashes,

Happy to see your dream burn to ashes.

Don't throw your dreams away,

Don't make your enemy happy
