A Father's Dream

A Father's dream

A friend once told me when his daughter was born,

Her little face and eyes did seem,

As fresh and glorious as the early morn,

The wonderful vision of a life's dream;

The soft and delicate bundle of joy,

With eyes closed , in her mother's arms,

To him appeared that she a bright future would enjoy

And establish herself in glowing terms;

A woman with rights would she become,

And earn society's respect,  a leader would she be,

Equality for all , would she work for and all barriers overcome,

Society's and the nation's problems with courage solve, thought he;

Intelligence and diligence would among her many qualities show,

Kind and helpful would her demeanor be,

With unbounded parental love would she grow,

And be like a  woman in the society with voice so free;

As dreams and thoughts flooded his mind,

The little baby opened her small eyes,

A smile on her lips did heaven unwind ,

She looked like an angel in human disguise:

When the child smiled at her father in sweet grace,

Her mother smiled and the mirth did imbue,

The proud father did his child embrace,

And knew that his every dream would emerge true.
