Goodbyes

“goodbyes”

from a list of messages never sent.

You told me it was unfair

For me to get up and walk away

But did you not see

All of the ways you hurt me?

Do you not remember

All of the times you let me down?

I guess that’s just how it is.

Some of us pick and choose

What we wish to remember

And who we paint ourselves as.

The thing is,

I choose to remember

That I am stronger than this.

So, I no longer wish

To give you the power

To hurt me, anymore.

That choice is on me.

This poem is about:
Me
