Hard Times Help You Grow, Oftentimes

Grow up,

Stop looking at things so close up.

I sat the bench all season of Field Hockey,

Some said it's because I'm not too jockey.

I watched my friends run and play,

While I sat there feeling gray.

I would cry and  wonder "Why am I not good enough",

Until one day, I found my answer, even if it was rough.

Some people don't excel in everything,

and that's okay even if it may sting.

I took away many other lessons and tips:

Teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.

I saw the bigger picture, not so closeup.

That was the moment I knew I was growing up.
