Heads and Tails

The coin will land on heads or tails,

place your bets you can only choose one

The story books pick tails since they have tales and no heads,

and since flowers have heads but no tails they take the opposing side with

no hesitation

But what about the ones who have yet to choose,

horses who has both a head and tail

forced to decide what which is wrong and which is right

Stuck between two worlds who fight against each other to reach the same goal

In the end,

no matter what side the coin lands on,

both parties will be hurt

Both need each other but will never admit it

But what about the horses?

If they have both “Heads” and “Tails”,

does it hurt twice as much?

Memorable.Poems

This poem is inspiered by the time in my english class I had to choose between a book about women and a book about black men. It also reflects how I feel being both a woman and a person of color.
