Letters I will Never Send

Location

I smile when I look at you

When I was little

I would cry if I stepped on a bug

Because life is important and

Bugs are cute

I remember the innocence when

We were kids and we would skin our knees and

Play in the rain and

Pick flowers to put in our hair

When I was little

I got married to my best friend and

My little brother dressed up as superman

And I told my new husband that

I loved him

Superman grew up, and I lost my teeth

like I lost myself.

And it starts with a kiss at a three year old's wedding and then one day you find yourself

Alone and

Undressed and

Wishing you were sober

We all grow up so fast nowadays.

Life is really hopeless

According to society but

I can't wait to run away and be free, and maybe

Run to your arms and away from my old self because

You make me want to change

And you remind me of

The smell of rain

I hate falling in love because

"Kids do it for attention," but when I look at you

I can't see anything else and

You make me want to run through life

Holding your hand and

Playing in the rain and

Putting flowers in my hair because

I smile when I look at you.
