Perseverance

Wed, 05/10/2017 - 22:43 -- DJTHD

America, America, the price of freedom fought,

The colonies contested all the way, oppression and tyranny not,

Washington exalted, to be my country’s father,

Planting the seeds for those to eat, in this blessed patria

            Revolution! Revolution!

Much bloodshed to say the least,

America toiled through the toughest times,

                                                Perseverance to lay the peace.

America, America, division and trouble near;

A compromise, and then a stick, to beat those in fear.

Then seceded they, who meant to say, we care not about their rights,

But Grant had known that object one–courage in the nights of the fight,

The struggle to keep the Union together,

Pitted each brother against one another,

Yet America pushed through the roughest times,

                                                Perseverance to set the peace.

America, America, a date of infamy,

Its citizens lost in the thickening plot; America reacted with dignity,

The horrific brutality and torture blew, a strike of terrors injudiciously,

MacArthur returned with a rallying cry, “No substitute for victory”

The crowds triumphant, and the storm calmed,

                        Gunfire and artillery ceased,

America won in the tempestuous times,

                                                Perseverance to give the peace.
