Serpent

Alone in my shadow. He creeps from his murky corner. Fear envelopes my breath. Paralyzed. His coils slowly wrap my mind. Consumed. Shedding tears of fright. Control is lost. Enslaved by his obsession. Forever in his possession. Freedom seems out of reach. Light enters my shadow. Looking up. Looking for hope. Looking for strength to free me from these coils. Grasping the vine that leads to the unknown. I'm pulled away from my captor! I'm free! At last! And yet, he still has my thoughts. My fears. My future. Is freedom really free?
