Silence of The Sands

A barren landscape bereft of life
Nothing as far as they eye can see
Yet something
The stones rising sharply from the sands
Majestic as they tower above the desert
More proud and strong than any castle of Man
A fortress
Cutting through the air
Lording over the desert
From their peaks a whole expanse
Far as the eye can see
A breeze stirs
And then builds to a gust
Soon a great wind stirs
Sand blowing in the wind
The little stones beating and battering
Swirling, slowly wearing away at the great stones
Pulling them down into the sands
Claiming them
The sun sets on the scorching desert
Its rays passing unobstructed through the vastness
Its red gold beauty witness for all
And seen by none in the empty desert
