I see you my friend dreaming,
You seem so distant,
You’re screaming “Don’t Die!”,
Friend I see you sleeping,
Yelling “Run away” and “Fire! Fire away!”
Friend be honest,
Are you okay?,
Friend you seem so distant,
Someone took you somewhere just then,
Tell me, I want to know,
Can you help me?
Can you help me for my brother?
I want to know,
Is the war like New Mexico winds of the spring,
Gusty, gusty, gusty, gusty,
Dusty, dusty, dusty,
Windy of the extreme,
Windy of the never end,
Powerful that it can tear something apart,
As my parents’ front yard when it floods,
When the rains come,
We have to fight to save the house,
The blazing heat of the sun that will leave you
As a red chile pepper about to dehydrate,
Did it seem like our land,
Every mile you walk is a different elevation,
Rolling hills with valleys to rough terrain of the mountains,
Tell me my friend what was it like,
Tell me,
I’m glad that you’re home to your homeland,
I’m glad brother is coming home friend,
Tell me, I’m afraid,
I’m afraid for you friend,
I fear for brother,
Did you get the help that you needed friend?
Tell me, I need to know,
The need to understand,
Don’t be distant,
For brother will be home soon,
Friend help me for brother.

Currently my brother is serving in the US Army and is currently across seas in Afghanistan which is still a hot spot in the middle east. I am afraid of how his mental health will be when he is tour is over and is out of the army.

Notthead Princess, My brother is also in the US Army and thank God is done with any tours...for now.  I love my brother and I haven't seen him in a long time.  Don't you worry about your brother becuase he has my prayers, my families prayers, and you have friends who are there for you.  I don't know you or your brother, but I love him for serving and being the hero that he is, even if he doesn't realize it.  God loves him, God loves you, and thank you for your poems!  What is his name?  Just so I know who to tell my family to pray for, and who I can pray for to Jesus.  If not that's okay, I am praying for him anyway.  God Bless.
