Standing Still
Winds push grasses, and rocks rolling back through
What lies behind me, the clouds are so blue
And the sky whispers, of things haven’t said
Very glad am I, that I left my bed
The autumn sun rises, the sweet air, cool
Brown leaves from trees fall, forming a loud pool
Rolling to nothing, but a cold red bliss
Only that, I think, is what she must miss
Lost in this cruel world, like a wind-spun leaf
T’wards the sun I go, my time there is brief
Dull aches I’m feeling, this is what I need
This caged heart of mine, it has just to bleed
Rising on small clouds, the wind is lifted
Over the dark storm, my mind has shifted
To the words unknown, what I should have said
I keep looking back, to where I have tread
My legs continue, their own steady beat
I think of her shoes, that have lost their feet
She smiles at me, hey isn’t this fun?
“I miss you” I say, she answers...”Just...run.”
