Walk with Me

Location

It took me few weeks to find an idea for this slam,

I’ve been scratching my head in deep thought,

Tossing and turning in my sleep for days,

Trying to figure out what to write about.

Finally, it’s 11:11 pm, November 23rd,

It’s seems like I’ve opened my mind,

Inviting it to this broad idea,

“You only write once,” right?

Wrong, you do not only write once,

For me, I’ve written at every moment I’ve known.

I find an opportunity and take it,

Instead of wasting away on my iPhone.

I don’t stare at a screen 24/7

I live my life with a no lint or cent,

Drawing, writing, and sketching

Rather than worrying about my power being at 10%

When I go to restaurants, I prefer to eat my meal,

I don’t snap and Instagram it to my pal.

I like talking to people face to face,

Ask me to start a conversation and I shall.

“You only write once,” is a sad lie to me,

To me, “You only write if you choose”

Why not be more like me and pick up a book?

You could learn a thing or two.

Follow me in this movement,

And open your eyes to the facts,

I just don’t want this society to get worse,

Everyone else has just turned their backs.

Pick up a pen and imagine,

Let your mind run away with me,

Fuck “You Only Write Once,”

Today, “You Will Write if you Please,”
