Poems about Animals
As I stepped outside
from my cool home into the heat,
the bright light made me squint
I grew up nurtured by carpets of pine and soft drizzle,
cradled by mountains with snowmelt bubbled through by activism
A step into
a darkened part
A light in ash
unusual start
one chance to show
one chance to shine
I see faces pass me by. Faces that I used to know but they’re all strangers to the strange--they don’t know the world I know.
Round and round the track i reace the horses dust flying in my face, the leader than begins to slow, now its my time in the show.
